Description

6 inch yellow film abrasive disc P400

This is a film-backed, fleece-backed sanding disc designed for fine sanding, coating finishing, automotive refinishing, wood finishing, plastic part processing, and metal surface pretreatment. Based on the image, this product features a 6-inch / 150mm diameter, 8-hole dust-extraction pattern, P400 grit, yellow polyester film backing, and a fleece-backed structure.

P400 is a medium-fine grit, typically used for smoothing sanding marks after rough grinding, primer sanding, coating leveling, pre-spray treatment, and as a preparatory step before finer grits such as P600 and P800. The P-grade grit classification belongs to the FEPA system. The ISO 6344 standard covers the grit size definitions for corundum and silicon carbide abrasive grains used in coated abrasives, with P240 to P5000 falling within the micro-powder grit range.

APPLICATIONS

6-Inch 8-Hole Yellow Polyester Film Sanding Disc P400

This P400 yellow polyester film sanding disc is designed for primer sanding, old paint refinement, pre-painting preparation, wood finishing, plastic part sanding, metal surface preparation, and composite material sanding.

P400

Intermediate Fine Sanding Before Finishing

P400 is commonly used for refining sanding marks, leveling primer or intermediate coats, and preparing surfaces before P600, P800, or spraying processes.

Primer sanding
Old paint layer refinement
Putty sanding mark smoothing
Pre-spraying preparation
Light coating surface leveling
Process Role: P400 is mainly used as an intermediate fine sanding step, not for aggressive material removal.

Technical Notes for P400 Sanding Applications

P400 sanding products are commonly used for sanding mark refinement, surface preparation, dust-controlled dry sanding, and intermediate sanding processes before finer grits or painting.

P400

Medium-Fine Sanding Stage

P400 is mainly used to refine sanding marks and prepare surfaces for later sanding, coating, or painting processes. It is not intended for rapid material removal or final polishing.

Removes marks from P240 or P320
Prepares for P600 or P800
Supports paint preparation
Requires dust control in dry sanding
Selection Reminder: Always match the abrasive backing, hole pattern, sanding stage, and dust extraction system with the customer’s actual equipment and application.
Expertise 02

Film-Backed vs Paper-Backed Abrasives

Paper-Backed Sheets

Lower in cost and suitable for general-purpose sanding.

Film-Backed Sheets

Offer better flatness and dimensional stability for automotive, coating, plastic, and composite material applications.

Film backing is more suitable when consistent sanding marks are critical.
Expertise 03

8-Hole vs Multi-Hole Designs

8-Hole Design

Compatible with standard dust collection trays and offers good versatility.

Multi-Hole Design

Provides a larger dust collection area but requires a matching tray.

Verify the customer’s equipment hole pattern before purchasing to avoid reduced dust collection efficiency.
Expertise 04

Dust Control During Dry Sanding

P400 grit tends to generate fine dust when sanding primer, old paint, and coatings. If dust is not removed promptly, it can cause clogging, overheating, and random scratches.

Fine dust Clogging risk Overheating risk Random scratches Dust extraction recommended
Use this product together with a dust extraction system during dry sanding.
